The Oselvar is among the very few types of small Norwegian boats build traditionally. All the knowledge assembled by generations of boat builders is taken care of, and passed on to the younger craftsmen being trained at the centre. The secrets of the trade have been passed down from generation to generation, in a line of tradition going back to the Viking Age, more than 1000 years. The knowledge has been refined over the centuries, in close cooperation between the boat builders and demanding customers. The boat builders of today benefit from a millennium of accumulated knowledge, enabling them to build just the boat the customer needs.
